SLOVENIA BASKETBALL TEAM 🇸🇮

Qualified for EuroBasket 2022, Slovenia is none other than the defending champion team. A gold medal won in 2017, after successes against France or Spain and a final victory against Serbia.

Since then, the last international competition in which the Slovenian national basketball team has participated is none other than the Olympic Games in Tokyo, in 2021. This was the first time in the history of the national team, which celebrated its first Olympic participation.

For the occasion, Slovenia has shone. First of all by leaving undefeated in its group, however constituted by Japan, Argentina and Spain (world champion in title). Then by eliminating Germany in the quarter-finals. Arrived in the last four, the Slovenian basketball team finally lost, against France, after a breathtaking semi-final, which ended on the now famous counter of Nicolas Batum on Klemen Prepelič. In the match for third place, synonymous with the bronze medal, Slovenia faced Australia. The result was a 107-93 defeat, so the Slovenia basketball team finished the first Olympic tournament in its history in fourth place.

The twelve players who took part in these Olympic Games, under the command of coach Aleksander Sekulić, are:

Luka Rupnik - Aleksej Nikolić - Klemen Prepelič - Edo Murić - Mike Tobey - Jaka Blažič - Gregor Hrovat - Žiga Dimec - Zoran Dragić - Vlatko Čančar - Jakob Čebašek - Luka Dončić

Without any possible dispute, Luka Dončić is the huge star of this Slovenian selection. At only 23 years old, the Dallas Mavericks player's record of achievements and awards is already monstrously impressive:

  • NBA All-Star (from 2020 to 2022)
  • 3× All-NBA First Team (from 2020 to 2022)
  • NBA Rookie of the Year (2019)
  • NBA All-Rookie First Team (2019)
  • EuroLeague champion (2018)
  • EuroLeague MVP (2018)
  • EuroLeague Final Four MVP (2018)
  • All-EuroLeague First Team (2018)
  • 2× EuroLeague Rising Star (2017 and 2018)
  • EuroLeague 2010-20 All-Decade Team (2020)
  • 3× Liga ACB Champion (2015, 2016, 2018)
  • Liga ACB MVP (2018)
  • All-Liga ACB First Team (2018)
  • 2× ACB Best Young Player (2017 and 2018)
